
Indian Ocean Rim Association
The Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) presents its compliments to the IORA Member Statesand has the honour convey that the Regional Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (RCSTT), in collaboration with the Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization (ISDMU), Ministry of Natural Resources of China, will be hosting a Webinar on “Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization in the Indian Ocean Region” on 26 November 2025 from 14:00 to 17:00 (GMT+5:30).
Water scarcity is a growing challenge across the Indian Ocean Region, driven by climate change, population growth, and increased demand from agriculture, industry, and urbanization. Recognising desalination as a strategic solution, the webinar aims to foster regional dialogue, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer, with particular emphasis on brine management, resource recovery, seawater agriculture, and sustainable coastal development.
The Secretariat kindly requests interested Member States and Dialogue Partners to nominate speakers along with their presentation topics and materials by 17 November 2025. Member States that wish to attend the webinar as participants are requested to confirm their participation by 21 November 2025. All speakers and participants are requested to complete the attached registration form and send it to fereshteh Moradi fereshteh.moradi@gmail.com copied to kritika.nuckchady@iora.int.
The concept note and draft agenda of the webinar are attached herewith for the kind consideration of Member States. Additional details, including the meeting link and administrative arrangements, will be shared in due course.
