Mr. Ali Morteza Birang, Deputy for International Affairs and Technological Exchange, Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, I.R. Iran paid a visit to the Regional Center for Science and Technology Transfer (IORA RCSTT) and had a meeting with Dr. Miremadi, the Director of IORA RCSTT on October 28, 2018. They discussed the various areas of bilateral cooperation including the joint planning of a training course on human resources development focused on regional science and technology diplomacy and interaction with the Indian, Chinese and Russian technology diplomats.
It is worth noting that Mr. Birang was accompanied in this meeting by Mr. Alaei Tabatabai, the Director of Office of Technology Exchange, Mr. Estiri, the Director General of the International Business Development Office and Mr. Hossein Ahmadi, the Deputy Director of International Affairs.

 

On the Occasion of the visit of H.E. Mr. Anil Sooklal, Deputy Director General, Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, South Africa and the Chair of the Eighth Bi-annual Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) to Tehran, Dr Miremadi, Director of IORA-RCSTT, invited him to visit the office of RCSTT on 8 August 2018. It was the first time that Mr. Sooklal visited the headquarter in Tehran. In this visit, he was accompanied by Ms. Jacobs, Charge d'affaires of the South African Embassy to Tehran. During the visit, Dr. Miremadi gave them a tour of the Office and introduced her colleagues and working team. This visit also provided a very good opportunity for both parties to discuss the past activities and the future plans of IORA-RCSTT.


Eighth Bi-annual Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO)



The Republic of South Africa, the current Chair of IORA, will convene the Eighth Bi-annual CSO meeting on 30 – 31 July 2018 in Durban, with the support of the IORA Secretariat. The meeting brings together the 21 Member States and Specialised Agencies to take stock of the progress and to chart the way forward, with a special focus on the implementation of the IORA Action Plan 2017-2021.


Member States will exchange views on the strengthening of the IORA Secretariat; engagement with Dialogue Partners, international and regional organisations; new project proposals by Member States; and financial management including the IORA Special Fund. IORA’s partners, which include its Specialised Agencies and the Chair in Indian Ocean Studies, will also have the opportunity to present reports of their activities as well as their future programs.

Dr. Tahereh Miremadi has been appointed as the new Director of IORA RCSTT by the IORA Secretary General in consultation with the Ministry of Science Research and Technology, I.R. Iran since July 25, 2018 for a period of three years.
She has received her PhD on International Relations from Department of Political Science, Tarbiat Modaress University, Tehran in 2002.
  She is basically focused on and fond of Science and technology Diplomacy.
                                            
Dr. Miremadi is currently a Senior Research Fellow, and Head of Study Group on S&T Policy in Research Institute of New Technology Development (RINTD), Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), Ministry of Science, Research and Technology since 2012.

IORA RCSTT signed MOU with CSIR-CIMAP on Medicinal Plants

 

On February 24, 2018, in the presence of IORA Secretary General H.E. Dr. Nokwe, the IORA Regional Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (RCSTT) signed a MOU with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow (CSIR-CIMAP) for establishment of a Coordinating Center focused on promoting scientific and technical cooperation and collaboration in specialized fields of Medicinal Plants.
